The Collingwood Children’s Farm in Melbourne recently received a handy donation from SOTA Tractors. SOTA Tractors gave the Children’s Farm an AGMAX single tine ripper that will be put to good use on the 7 ha property located in Collingwood, where there is an emphasis on organic and permaculture production. With all the foot traffic the Children’s Farm gets from thousands of visitors, soil compaction can be an issue.

“The single tine ripper will be used to break up the compacted soil and aerate the ground at the Children’s Farm,” said SOTA Tractor’s Suzanne Day. “The Children’s Farm has its tractor serviced at SOTA Tractors and we thought a ripper would be put to good use as well,” Ms Day said.

Collingwood Children’s Farm staff member Bridget Bainbridge said the Farm was only able to operate due to the support of many companies like SOTA. “They also provide advice on pasture management and care, farm machinery and the maintenance of tractors.” The AGMAX ripper is a single tine ripper capable of digging to a depth of 300mm. It fits on a standard small tractor three point linkage. Ms Day said the ripper will do a great job of getting down into the soil to help break up any compaction.
