A key factor in Bruce Cooper’s steady business success with the lifestyle farming market is relatively simple – provide a service that helps small area farmers get on their feet. “We don’t just sell tractors. We try to provide an initial package of tractor related equipment, and some helpful practical advice as part of our follow up,” said Mr Cooper, a director of SOTA Tractors (pictured below).

SOTA’s strategy involves ensuring its key staff are well grounded with a range of farm mechanisation, livestock and pasture management experiences so they can help customers anticipate their needs, and advise them how and when to use certain gear when moving to a lifestyle block or something bigger.
State managers are often called on to provide background advice on everything from erecting fences and yards, to drenching livestock or pasture improvement, plus answer specific questions about machinery.
SOTA’s initial tractor import business has now expanded to include an array of tractor implements, such as power take off driven wood chippers and post hole diggers, grader blades, stick rakes, carryalls and grass slashers.
